Brin-Jonathan Butler could not have capture Havana better. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you would surely have seen my recent visit there and my incontainable excitement over it. 

Honestly, I know its a big call, but of all the places I've ever been, Havana has been the most beautiful place I've ever experienced and I can't stop gushing about it!

Cuba's history to where she stands today is known far and wide, so no history lessons from me here. What kept me in aw about this wonderful place is its uniqueness. Herein lies an island where, geographically, it's only 40mins by plane south of Florida; 210km to the east of Mexico and 140km to her south lies Jamaica, all places that, despite their rich cultural influences, has still succumbed to  the insta-generation, a generation where everything moves at the speed of double tapping and swiping, and nothing is valid unless it's posted. Where this brunch maybe cool now, but... oh wait, or was that 3 mins ago? Yet for Cuba, in all its colourful glory, time has stopped at 1959.

Although we were only there for three days, and regrettably, did not  explore further than Havana, these are the memories I will treasure forever.

Back in May of 2016, Chanel became the first luxury fashion house to stage (one of Karl's ever extravagant) runway show in Havana (as you do, Karl 😉). It was on this very stretch of Colonial boulevard , designed by a Frenchman in the 1770s, that the famed fashion house , once again, turned the spotlight back to Havana, romanticising this city in all her beautiful glory as did so by Ernst Hemmingway back in 1939. 

Naturally, I had to pay my sartorial tribute, pilgriming to this boulevard, proudly wearing my Fedora and bag from THE collection that made its debut on the Paseo del Prado and re introduce this place to the eyes of the world.

ALL MY LOVES

Hello Lovers!

Well, it’s been almost 2.5 years and I'm so excited to be back and tell you about all the shenanigans I've been up to...OMG can't wait!

During this time, I’ve soaked up travelling to some of the most breath taking places on earth; discovered new loves, revisited old loves, explored crazy loves, ticked a heap off of my bucket list, and of course, all whilst I nosh my way through (talk about gluttony). 

You will see from my next few posts, it's going to be all about my travels, and will appear in no particular or chronological order. 

I’ll also be compiling some city guides, and am hoping that this will be of some use to you...and it goes without saying, please please leave me feedback, especially recommendations, I'd love to experience your discoveries.

Lastly, I’m also super excited to share with you something I’ve been working on…for a while, my VLOG!!! This won't be just video version of my post (for the lazy buggers that cbf reading all this) but a fun little side project I've started to work on, spontaneously documenting the craziness and going ons in my day (shout out @missjingntonic for the encouragement and Insta Stories for the inspo)!

CENTRAL PARK IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

Welcoming myself back from what seemed like forever, the break from blogging that is, not NYC, and certainly never from vacationing, what a better homecoming post than that of my favourite city to visit: the Empire state. 

I was there just after the new year. This is always my favourite time to visit despite the usual encounter with the below zero temperatures. Why?! I hear you ask, well, think about it, everyone is still in festive mode, everything is on sale, enjoying cocktails from various cafes and bars that are concocted only during this special time of the year ....oh take me back! 

One of our favourite pass times wherever we visit is a stroll through the city's parks, enjoying the open space, away from the craziness and giving me a mid break just to take everything in. Of course, for NYC, Central Park is always a good idea. For those of you who have been during the warmer months through to about Fall (now, don't even get me started on the amazing colors of Fall in the Park; it's almost a must do), I do recommend paying her a visit in December / January. The whole landscape is completely different, gone is the sea of golden orange to a beautiful subdue icy blue, and if you are lucky, you may even get to see how she looks in a veil of snow.

Although there are no rules on where to begin, I usually like to enter the park from West 59th (south end of the park). From here, I can begin to head north and towards the Central Park Zoo. After this, the park is very much your oyster. Wander through and start to get lost in there, you'll come across so many little pockets of "parks within the park", such as the Conservatory Garden, or the Lilac Walk (although, in Winter it's not easily recognisable), Bethesda Terrace, and the iconic, Bow Bridge (pictured) & Gapstow Bridge.

These picts were taken right before the cold snap that swept through the city, the weather was a pleasant 9 degrees celsius. For this trip, I decided to take this beautiful Camilla and Marc Booleen Trench with me. It was the perfect staple piece to go with the pieces I took with me (I'll have to do a post on what to pack soon). Those who know me, know I tend to go for darker color choices when the temperature drops (must be a Melbourne / Paris thing?) and also my love for combining different textures. This trench then seems to be the epitome of what I love, combining the netting/ perforation of the scuba fabric on wool, and who said blue and black don't go together? The last two pictures were from the day before Central Park, just as I headed to brunch. Same siloutte, but I thought for a bit of fun, I wore my Lover lace dress with my leather leggings (when all else fails, wear leather legging under your dress). 

Over the next few weeks, I will be starting my city guide posts, there will be reviews and recommendations on the cities I've visited. Can't wait to share all my special places with you. And as always, be sure to share my little moments on Instagram

Hi guys! A warm welcome back for me haha. Sorry, I've been MIA for a while...sometimes, we all need to take a bit of time out, a bit of me  time, to keep ourselves sane. That's exactly what I did the past month. These picts were taken in early September, before my time out...I've almost forgotten about them.

Anyways, enough about my 'me time'... Remember my obsession with bomber jackets? Well, that obsession was actually borne out of my love for sweat shirts. It's my fail-safe, go-to, top of choice. Think about it, it's comfortable, versatile, great for those I-don't-feel-like-I'm-looking-my-best-to-glam-up days, and when worn with the right pieces, it transitions from day to night while maintaining that air of insouciance to the outfit.

I've been lucky enough that the sweat shirt has re-surfaced as a cult piece last season and continues to be this season. This has afforded me plenty of choices. When I saw this one by Zimmermann, it was love at first site. It's made of organza silk, giving the sloppy joe subtle structure (allowing it to show off the beautiful 'honour' crest design - central to Zimmermann's Spring / Summer 2013 collection - 'Class of 2013'). 

Oh, this was date night by the way. We decided to try Ding Dong, a newish project (at the time) of our favourite chef Ryan Clift. The concept is fusion South East Asian, and the result is a fabulous bright mix of texture and flavours; twists to classic South East Asian street food favourites with some of the dishes being a pure experimental delight.  Choose from their a la carte menu or for newbies, I highly recommend the 'degustation menu' - compilation of their best sellers. 

I must also mention, their cocktails are a must try - modern fusion twists to classics: Mojitos using palm sugar, sake mixed with yoghurt and espresso martinis using Vietnamese style coffee drips(pictured). All this talk (typing) is strongly eliciting my urge to re-visit this place.

By the way, I still have heaps of pictures from my last trip back home. I know it feels so long ago now and almost irrelevant, but it took me a while to sort them all out and it would be such a waste if I don't publish them. So I hope you won't mind too much if I put up the picts in my next few posts.

GARDENS BY THE BAY

I went on a girl date with my girlfriends today at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. It was my first time (at the garden, that is) and boy, was I impressed!!!

The garden is built wholly on reclaimed land and the conservatories (Cloud Forest: photos 2 - 12, the waterfall, and the Flower Dome: photos 13 - 21) are not only energy efficient, it is a column-less glasshouse - one of the largest in the world.

I won't bore you too much with the details, the pictures speak for themselves, but it's definitely a must do when you're next in Singapore.

Tip: do bring a light cardi, like every indoor part of the island, temperatures hover around the 16 - 19 degree Celsius (60 - 66 degree Fahrenheit) mark.
